Fall Camping

Charis' school reserves a large camping site for all the parents and kids in the Fall and Spring at Pedernales Falls. Kris, Charis and I went on Saturday and stayed till Sunday morning. Charis was so excited about camping and particularly about the tent. So I set up the tent while they unloaded the car.She immediately wanted to hang out in it and even suggested a nap so that she could be in it.
Of course she could not sleep and it was hot inside the tent so after ten minutes or so we convinced her to go swimming with us at the river. There were several kids that she knew from her class and lots of running around. We also enjoyed swimming, a potluck and ending the night with singing, dancing and a little treasure hunt in the dark.
We did learn one very important lesson for next time ... it is really important to have a "cool, fun" light for the kids after it gets dark. Charis was very attracted to everyone's lights. She was very good considering how hard it must have been to be one of the only kids without a light. She had more self control and restraint then I knew possible. And I was very grateful when a dad that had extras gave one to Charis.
We all had a great time on Charis' first camping adventure and will definitely do it more.

First Day of School

Charis 1st day of school. We were all excited as we got ready.
A few new things that she needed for school with her name stitched in them by Mommy.Kris and I rode our bikes pulling Charis in the trailer. Some family photos...
Of course, she did great! Said goodbye with hugs and kisses and went right into her class with no fear!Peeking in to catch a glimpse.
Kris and I rarely get time alone and we had three hours. Since I did not want to ride back up the hill, we got breakfast at a little Mexican restaurant. Then we rode our bikes a little and took the bus to the library. We got back in just enough time to get Charis a flower. They are suppose to walk out and sit on the bench until their name is called and then give Ms. Melanie a hug and goodbye and then greet us. Which seems really hard on the first day. Charis did great. She ran to me first but then turned around to hug Ms. Melanie.
A flower for Charis.
She loved her first day and had a lot of fun!

Getting pedals back

Charis has been learning to steer and balance on her bike with no pedals for a while. And she has been asking for her pedals back so that she can go fast. Kris and Charis worked on it together and put pedals back on her bike. She loves working in the workshop with daddy and was so very proud to get pedals on her bike.
